    Essentials White Core mat board is a quality North American made mat board with a great variety of colors for decorative framing. The bright white Eco-Core is made of recycled paper and is buffered to be pH neutral (Acid-Free). This mat is best used for decorative framing and is not of conservation quality.

    Opening Size Instructions

    Openings are cut to the size you specify; normally you will want an opening 1/2" smaller per dimension than your artwork. This gives space to hinge and prevents it falling through the mat opening. So, for example, an 8x10 photo would use a 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 opening.

    Sizes are listed by width first, and height second. Example 8" (width) by 10" (height).

    Please make sure that the opening width and height do not exceed the size dimensions.

      We have always used framing stores for our art. I accepted the high cost of using them as an unavoidable part of having art in the house. A recent assignment however turned out to be so expensive that I questioned if there had been a pricing error. It defied logic! On a whim, I thought perhaps there might be an online service. Everything else in the world seems available on the web! Lo and behold, when I checked, I found many listings, one being MatShop Canada. Perfect I thought. I opened their website and found 'custom mats' - just what we needed! How fortuitous! I built an order using their online software and a little intuition. When I encountered a minor glitch with the sizing function, I fired off an email after submitting my online order and asked if they would be kind enough to confirm it once the order reached production. To my pleasant surprise, I received a prompt reply explaining the issue and assuring me they would make sure the measurements in my email would prevail in the event of a discrepancy. That's precisely what they did and the order arrived exactly as my email had stipulated. Talk about exemplary service - in my mind, impossible to out do! I was truly impressed and can't recommend MatShop Canada strongly enough.

      product was of great quality, and was delivered within a reasonable timeframe. Only wish I could order less than 6 sometimes, although I understand why I may not be able to.
